About Us

Lori and Eric Sklut, Charlotte natives, have enjoyed focusing their life on volunteer service and philanthropy across the region.

Lori, a University of Georgia graduate, began working at Family Dollar Stores as a Buyer. Her father, Leon Levine, founded Family Dollar, and had a strong impact on her work ethic and philanthropic desire. Lori has served on the boards of The Foundation for the Carolinas, HopeWay and Atrium Health Foundation.

Eric, a UNC Chapel Hill graduate, owns a specialty automotive parts business, Perfection Automotive. He has served in leadership roles at Shalom Park and UNC, and has served on these boards: United Way, Levine Jewish Community Center, Charlotte Jewish Federation, Foundation of Shalom Park, Elon University, and UNC Center for Jewish Studies (chair).

Lori and Eric, and their children, Blair, Haley and Mason, believe giving is a lifelong commitment. Through the Levine-Sklut Family Foundation, they collaborate with charity leadership to achieve goals and support initiatives in these areas:

  • Jewish and faith-based institutions
  • Educational institutions
  • Human service agencies
  • Healthcare institutions
  • Cultural and performing arts organizations

Lori and Eric are driven to see that philanthropic endeavors succeed in bringing the challenges of the needy to the forefront, and are gratified to see the positive impact of their actions.

Who We Serve

Our passion is based on improving the human condition.

Growing up in the Jewish faith, Lori Levine Sklut and her husband, Eric Sklut, each have fond childhood memories of being taught the importance of charity, a concept they fully embrace as adults. Both the Skluts are generous with their time, serving as volunteer board members for a number of organizations.

The couple also provides generous contributions to numerous nonprofits through the Levine-Sklut Family Foundation. Their foundation focuses its grant-making on Jewish, educational and healthcare institutions; human service agencies; cultural and performing arts organizations; and children’s services. The couple views education as a means to further the breakdown of social barriers erected by intolerance, ignorance and bias.
